本剧是由编剧岸本鮎佳以“友情”为主题创作的、略带暗黑风格的成人喜剧。故事描绘了在广告代理公司工作的千本佳里奈（北香那 饰）与职业芭蕾舞者二木优美（天野花 饰）之间的友情与纠葛。
自称自由职业者的时多骏太郎（松本润 饰）终日无所事事，四处闲逛，间或勾引人妻玩乐。某天，他在和不伦对象约会时遭到侦探偷拍，搅了他的桃花局，却也借此机缘盲打误撞加入了干练女性藤崎瞳子（松岛菜菜子 饰）经营的北品川Lucky侦探社。这里聚集着旭淳平（大泉洋 饰）、新田辉（瑛太 饰）、水野飞鸟（仲里依纱 饰）等语多机锋、个性张扬且充满活力的青年侦探。 因之前的桃色事件，骏太郎和新田成为一对意见和办案风格完全相左的冤家，而经常好心办坏事的淳平又令一桩桩案子的解决过程充满不确定。没有故作深沉的老练面孔，只有充满活力的全速冲刺，幸运七人组迸发出激烈的火花……
画巨匠阿岛文哉去世一周年之际，相关单位筹划出版阿岛的作品全集，结果意外发现了一份从未发表过的手稿。该手稿讲述了一位漫画家为了寻找创作灵感，不惜杀害年轻女性的可怕故事。令相关人士担忧的是，该故事竟与35年前悬而未决的连环杀人案手法极其相像。为了调查手稿背后的真相，版权调查员水野优希（松下奈绪 饰）接受委托展开行动，并且辗转找到了不得意的天才漫画编剧醍醐真司（古田新太 饰）帮忙鉴定原稿。业内知识极其丰富的醍醐当下断言该手稿绝非阿岛所作，同时他无法原谅有人盗用阿岛的画风做下伤天害理的事情，于是积极与水野奔走，搜寻那个也许还逍遥法外的真凶…… 本片根据长崎尚志的小说《醍醐真司的猎奇事件File》改编。
10 years after Martin Shaw turned the beloved Inspector Gently novels into a hit BBC One TV series, filming has begun on two final feature-length episodes. Back in action one last time will be Shaw as the eponymous inspector, who is tested like never before just as he winds down his career. In the first of two films - Gently Liberated - the inspector and his trusted allies Bacchus (Lee Ingleby) and Coles (Lisa McGrillis) are brought in to investigate a possible "miscarriage of justice". However, their final case in Gently and the New Age has the Met's new Special Investigations Squad boss Lister bringing in the inspector to investigate high levels of corruption within the force. Both of these mini-movies will be set in 1970, as the women's liberation movement and the rise of the Conservative Party bring clashing values to Britain.
