本剧讲述了学生乐团几个热血青年抗日救国的感人故事。他们来自不同家庭、不同社会阶层甚至拥有不同的政治信仰，但在民族危亡之际自觉或不自觉地踏上了革命道路。富家子弟高畅向心仪的女教师苏婉婷求爱未果，却无意将苏婉婷送入敌人虎口，也使家人招致日军的残酷迫害。为了复仇，他和奶妈之子周泽西等等几个乐团朋友组成铁血号角抗日救亡队，巧妙暗杀几个头号鬼子，救出苏婉婷。为躲避日军追捕，几个年轻人决定在中共地下党员苏婉婷带领下走向革命圣地延安。临行前，苏婉婷得知爱人赵旗已经从延安调去晋察冀边区工作，晋察冀边区现在比延安更需要他们这些文化青年去工作。于是，苏婉婷和高畅等人商议后，决定服从组织的安排，前往晋察冀边区。然而，在前往根据地途中，两兄弟终因信仰不同分道扬镳。周泽西加入国民党军队，高畅跟随苏婉婷加入共产党，却对卧底日军的苏婉婷产生极大误会，与周泽西女友何晨产生了情感纠葛，以致两兄弟反目成仇！最终，苏婉婷完成任务回到根据地，而周泽西在何晨和高畅共同努力下冰释前嫌，加入解放军某军乐团担任指挥，胜利完成开国大典的调演活动……

10 years after Martin Shaw turned the beloved Inspector Gently novels into a hit BBC One TV series, filming has begun on two final feature-length episodes. Back in action one last time will be Shaw as the eponymous inspector, who is tested like never before just as he winds down his career. In the first of two films - Gently Liberated - the inspector and his trusted allies Bacchus (Lee Ingleby) and Coles (Lisa McGrillis) are brought in to investigate a possible "miscarriage of justice". However, their final case in Gently and the New Age has the Met's new Special Investigations Squad boss Lister bringing in the inspector to investigate high levels of corruption within the force. Both of these mini-movies will be set in 1970, as the women's liberation movement and the rise of the Conservative Party bring clashing values to Britain.
